Who is that older person? by Cathy Hudson

There is only one way and that is your way. There is only one salvation and that is your salvation. Why are you looking for help. Do you believe help will come from outside? What is to come will be created in you and from you. Hence look into yourself. Do not compare. Do not measure. No other way is like yours. All other ways deceive and tempt you. You must fulfill the way that is in you.” – Carl Jung, from Red Book

Recently I went to the beach. A vacation with my husband. We stayed where we had stayed on our honeymoon 38 years ago. It was all serendipitous, finding this place again. And as vacations go, we took a lot of pictures. I did a video of myself on the beach happily feeding the seagulls. Watching the video later I did not recognize the older person in the video. I felt as though I had not met her before.

I turned 60 this year. No big deal. Age never meant anything to me. Turning 30, nothing. Turning 50, nothing. Turning 60, very weird? I really felt some type of transformation. People started to call me ma’am, saying things like “you get around pretty good” or “you look good for 60”.  Seemingly reacting to me in a very different way? Is it tattooed on my forehead? Should I dye my hair again? Get a facelift?

Was this really happening? I mean, I have been in this vessel on this earth for 60 years. There is a birth certificate to prove it. But what was this magical number that suddenly seemed to age me? Who was this aging human traveling a bit slower through space and time?

So many questions.

And here is where Gaga Lala stepped in. She recognized her practice of knowing. Knowing that she is simply and perfectly a divine being. I really like that older broad. She makes me smile. I heard her saying “Use your practice of self-observation. 20 years of working on transformational consciousness and you forgot the practice?” And I said to her “Give me a break I am 60 after all”.  And we threw our heads back and laughed.

We reconnected me. Gently guiding the heart, the mind, and the body (the 3 Centers) to the higher self, higher consciousness. She pointed out that even though my vessel is aging my life is beautiful and new in so many ways. Feed the seagulls, soak up the sun and embrace the sound of the waves. Remember to live fully in the moment. And so, I do.

I am older. I am 60. This practice, the journey living fully in the moment is not easy. I may fall a few times. I might see that older person and may not always embrace her right away. And Gaga Lala will always call me back.

In Love Always,

Gaga Lala
